…. and the typical government rip off.
Turns out the guys who dicouvered this area were constantly redrirected and never given their dues. They were swindled and basically undermined to not getting their share of their own discouvery. Shocking right. Ha ha. Nope.
So Savannahs little buddies from the morning came here also. I should backtrack. In the morning the regaled a family of three girls (who were just as happy to see a child her age) with stories of all her aninals and friends from home etc. She did stretch the truth and said that we had 10 rats inside. Which is an infestation she’s clearly never actually experienced.
We saw the friends then continued on our way. It was very well done. It’s funny to see different things in different places. Like Nanaimo bars and the Last Spike image at the sulfur springs.
I took pictures of all the parks we’d like to visit, of figures and cracks in the ground. We saw a poorly marked building and checked inside. It was a memorial building for the interment camps of the parks areas. Esspecially Cave and Basin as it was one. We worked a push cart with Jeb who was impressed by my arm muscles.
We spent about four hours there. Watching an educational movie, walking on the boardwalk, eating melted ice cream because their freeze thawed the night before. We sent a postcard.
Thr drove towards Calgary to see Myalee. We were rather ahead of schedule ad bc sooo I thought maybe next week. We’d push through for Rocky Mountain House. It didnt happen.
There was an airshow resulting in about 10km of backed up traffic. This lead to heaps of stalling and myself being unimpressed. We saw a rollercoaster. Ok Sav did. I saw the signs for Calaway Park. Which the family if five had mentioned. We thought pfffft why not. Cops were directing traffic is was so congested on the highway. Turns out there was an airshow and we had uncannily hit the worst time to drive in. The Beast had stalled about 5x by now and I was done with the gas and go approach. We pulled into the campground and were given a pass by David as we drive in and he and his family drove out. That was kind. I was too honesty and went in to the office. At first they were unsure about swapping us amd mentioned the overflow parking on the hill. But in the end Arrah and Beth were great. We got
A full hookup site right next to a very nice bathroom. The nicest we’ve seen yet.
We both got everything ready. Sav is amazing. Checked out the showers, gave forms to the office, took a photo for the blog and walked the dog. Max met Lucy a four month old Shitzu puppy. Very cute for small dog. They were adorable. Her owner was a professional water skier prior to life with kids. She has two boys and tows a fifth wheel. She was friendly we enjoyed her company.
Myalee came to visit at night. She neigh Sav flowers (we’ve still got them) and we all ate cherries, chips and salsa and Sav got a bag of friend peas. She was so happy. Turns out they both like frozen peas. Myalee and I drank corona. All things she bright which was so sweet. I’ve always explained the important part childhood friends play in ones life. Perhaps that’s whyI anyways sight to have so much fun for the every one at school/work. Myalee was like a life saver ring in the turbulent waters of my childhood. A friend who has impacted in great ways and who I’ll always cherish wild ferral childhood memories with. Adopting abandoned boats, sleeping in cave valley, watching Cindy mend nets, running around and riding bikes. So for Savannah to see that we can still meet up as adults. Once every 3 years ish. Is huge. She’s heartbroken over leaving Aubrey and planning gr 8 with her at Quamichan. She is saving postcards and looking for things to mail Fin and Oli. So it gave her some hope. We visited in until 10pm as I took pictures of a changing sun… turns out the pretty red was due to the smoke from the fires. Then we went to sleep on the theme park grounds just outside Calgary, both excited about tomorrow
